The Research Assignments Program (RAP)

The Dow Research Assignments Program (RAP) offers new chemists, materials scientists and engineers a unique opportunity to explore different areas of industrial research and development before selecting a specific position in a Dow Research & Development (R&D) laboratory. Exciting career development experiences await recent graduates in high profile projects that will allow them to do exploratory and business-driven research.

RAP is a rotational program in which new employees sequentially complete three or four projects with different Dow R&D groups during their first 12-16 months on the job. At the completion of the program, each employee moves into a specific job that matches his or her interests and meets the company’s needs. Each employee on RAP has a home base location at one of Dow’s R&D sites. RAP employees are encouraged to complete at least one project away from their home base location in order to fully experience the breadth of Dow’s R&D activities.

Dow offers an unparalleled opportunity to experience multiple aspects of chemistry and materials science-based research, and to be on the cutting edge of innovation. By participating in different projects within their field of interest, new RAP employees can develop their technical strengths and broaden their areas of expertise before selecting a specific position in a Dow R&D organization. Participation in RAP also provides new employees with the opportunity to demonstrate their research capabilities to a variety of Dow leaders and to develop a strong network across Dow.
